Third Street is committed to responsible manufacturing that minimizes waste. We've been using small-batch custom manufacturing methods since we opened in 1986. We custom cut-and-sew based on orders received from retailers. This is the most sustainable way to produce - only making goods in the sizes, colors and quantity that are needed.
We specialize in kids apparel with lots of small pieces, and we have some creative ways to minimize fabric waste in our daily operations. Once the fabric pieces are too small to be used for our products, they are donated and recycled. Fabric scraps are collected by a local children's non-profit in Southwest Missouri who diverts them from the landfill by selling the scraps to other domestic industries like insulation and carpet padding and uses the funds for their non-profit programs.
97% of the clothing sold in America is imported, but we are very proud to be a part of the 3% USA Apparel Industry. We have been Made in Missouri for 4 decades, and are engaged with our local schools, economic development and workforce programs to strengthen domestic manufacturing. USA Made products recycle dollars within the US economy and support workers and their communities, demonstrate a commitment to workplace standards and minimize transportation costs and resources.
